Shane O'Shea Head Of MusicDulwich College Beijing Founder International
Schools Choral Music Society Co-chair of Artistic Direction for the Association of Chinese And Mongolian International
Schools
Shane has a music degree and Masters from Trinity College and has been involved in and conducted choirs
from a young age. He performed in award-winning choirs and conducted first placed prize winners at the Cork International
Choral Festival. He has conducted professional and semi-professional choirs and orchestras in Ireland and the UK and
toured countries such as Germany, Italy, France, the UK, Greece, South Korea and America. He is the youngest person
to have conducted in the National Concert Hall in Ireland, a performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Whilst
in University he conducted the Trinity College Chapel Choir and recorded their first compact disc, Bow Down Thine Ear,
to critical acclaim. He sang as a Bass Lay Vicar in St. Patrick's Cathedral for four years and performed in Westminster
Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral and Hereford Cathedral. In 1997 he founded the Mornington Singers, one
of Ireland's premier chamber choirs. He has attended conducting master classes with Colin Mawby, Dr. Robert Hasty and
Dr. Victor Yampolsky. Shane has recorded with Michael Flatley, Bonnie Tyler, Phil Coulter and James Galway. Recently
he founded the International Schools Choral Music Society (ISCMS) and hosted their first festival, a performance of Faure's
Requiem in 2008 by over 100 students from 9 International Schools. In 2010 he will conduct the Mozart
Requiem with ISCMS with over 200 voices and an orchestra of 100 from 12 countries with the performance taking place
in the Forbidden City Concert Hall. He has recently established the Beijing Youth Orchestra, an orchestra comprising
of 35 of the best musicians from the two main Conservatoires in Beijing, and 35 musicians from International Schools. This
orchestra is unique, and plans to make a CD are well under way. He has worked with the Federation of British International
Schools of South East Asia (FOBISSEA) and is the co-chair of Artistic Direction for the Association of Chinese And Mongolian
International Schools (ACAMIS). He hopes some day to organize a joint music Festival between ISCMS, ACAMIS and FOBISSEA. Shane
is currently completing his Masters in Music Education at Northwestern University in Chicago, specializing in conducting.
